Project Progress Report Support Green Agricultural Incubator for the Training of 100 Girls Reporting Period: June 2026 - October 2026 By Ousmane Ndiaye, Project Director The Support Green Agricultural Incubator for 100 Girls project continues to make significant progress in empowering vulnerable adolescent girls through sustainable agriculture, entrepreneurship training, and environmental stewardship in rural communities of Saint-Louis, Senegal. Progress Achieved Over the reporting period, the project strengthened the capacity of girls to become future agricultural entrepreneurs and community leaders. Key achievements include: 72 girls actively enrolled in practical training programs covering agroecological farming, entrepreneurship, leadership, and climate-smart agriculture. Two training and incubation gardens established, providing participants with hands-on experience in vegetable production using environmentally sustainable methods. Mentorship partnerships expanded with experienced women farmers and agronomy students from Gaston Berger University, enabling girls to benefit from practical guidance and role models. Nutrition and environmental awareness sessions delivered, helping participants understand the links between agriculture, food security, child nutrition, and climate resilience. As a result, beneficiaries have demonstrated increased confidence, stronger technical skills, and greater motivation to pursue agriculture as a viable career path. Challenges Encountered Despite encouraging progress, several challenges continue to affect implementation: Limited water availability and inadequate irrigation infrastructure reduce agricultural productivity. Transportation difficulties prevent some girls from regularly attending training sessions. Shortages of essential equipment, including gloves, boots, and training materials, constrain practical learning activities. Some participants continue to face social and cultural pressures that limit their participation, highlighting the need for ongoing community sensitization and psychosocial support. Impact Stories The project continues to inspire hope among participating girls and their families. One participant explained that the training has encouraged her to continue learning and producing food despite existing constraints, while local mentors have emphasized the transformative role these girls can play in strengthening agriculture within their communities. Next Steps During the coming months, the project aims to: Complete the full training cycle for all 100 girls. Strengthen irrigation systems and improve water access. Supply additional tools, protective equipment, and training materials. Establish a girls-led agricultural cooperative to support collective entrepreneurship. Document results and lessons learned to facilitate replication of the model in other regions of Senegal. Appreciation Association Jeunesse Espoir (AJE) expresses its sincere gratitude to the GlobalGiving community and all supporters whose contributions continue to create opportunities for vulnerable girls. Together, we are not only cultivating crops but also nurturing confidence, leadership, economic independence, and hope for a brighter future. Thank you for investing in the future of girls and sustainable agriculture in Senegal
