Ms. Rozina’s Tale of Courage against Thalassemia
Introduction
Rozina
Brave Warrior of Thalassemia
Assistant Director at Psycho Social Well-Being Center, KITCC
Rozina was diagnosed with Thalassemia at the age of 3 months. It was a shocking news for her family. But they did not lose hope and decided to take care of her. From the age of 3 months, she used to visit Kashif Iqbal Thalassemia Care Centre for regular blood transfusions.
Luckily, she was surrounded by very supportive people, but there were a few relatives who used to say toxic words to hurt her. One of the words that truly hurt her at that time: “Why don’t you poison her? She has no future, no life she is a just a burden on your shoulders.”
KITCC supported her and offered her comprehensive medical care. Rozina was a very ambitious girl. She wanted to achieve something great in her life. In order to honor her courage and dreams, KITCC management offered her a job at Psycho Social Well – Being Centre. She worked hard under the supervision of her mentor, Dr. Asma and developed different programs for the survival and overall well-being of thalassemia patients.
Currently, she is serving KITCC as a Senior Assistant Director of PSWC. She has set a remarkable example for many thalassemia patients who are struggling hard against thalassemia. For 28 years, KITCC has been dedicated to supporting and empowering courageous thalassemia warriors like Rozina. KITCC aims to make more patients successful in their respective fields and encourage them to achieve their goals and fulfil their dreams because dreams do come true.
