Dear Compassionate Donors,
Thalassemia, a life-threatening genetic blood disorder, affects thousands of individuals in Pakistan, demanding urgent and consistent medical care. For those battling this condition, survival depends on regular blood transfusions and specialized treatments—resources that remain scarce, especially in challenging conditions like Karachi’s extreme heatwaves.
The Growing Struggle for Thalassemia Patients
Patients with thalassemia major require blood transfusions every two to four weeks to sustain healthy hemoglobin levels. However, each transfusion leads to iron overload, which, without proper chelation therapy, can cause severe damage to vital organs.
In Pakistan:
5,000 new thalassemia cases are diagnosed each year.
Over 10 million people carry the thalassemia gene, risking its transmission to future generations.
Financial barriers prevent many families from accessing consistent treatment.
Additionally, Karachi’s soaring temperatures and harsh weather conditions have worsened the situation, leading to a sharp decline in blood donations. Extreme heat discourages people from visiting donation centers, creating critical shortages for thalassemia patients who cannot afford delays in transfusions.
How Your Support is Saving Lives
Thanks to your generosity, we have been able to provide life-saving care to 1,045 thalassemia patients in Karachi and beyond. Here’s the impact you’ve made possible:
Despite these efforts, the need continues to grow. With $86,571 still required to meet our goals, we urgently need your help to expand our services and combat the blood shortage crisis worsened by Karachi’s extreme climate.
Join Us in Making a Difference
Your support is a lifeline for thalassemia patients who face daily battles for survival. Every contribution helps secure blood supplies, fund chelation therapy, and raise awareness to prevent future cases.
Together, we can ensure that no patient suffers due to a lack of resources—even in the toughest conditions.
With deepest gratitude,
Kashif Iqbal Thalassemia Care Center
