In November 2024, SOS Children’s Villages initiated a new phase of the Juntos Pelo RS humanitarian action in Porto Alegre.
With a planned duration of 12 months, the initiative will support 240 families from the Asa Branca and Fazendinha communities in the Sarandi district. These families are receiving regular visits from SOS Children’s Villages teams, which include social workers, educators, psychologists, and specialists in family and community development. The support provided includes emotional assistance, social guidance, and continuous follow-up, aiming to help families rebuild their lives while ensuring the rights of children and adolescents.
Additionally, this new phase of the project, funded by national and international donations, includes the establishment of two Child-Friendly Spaces, which serve more than 180 children and adolescents during out-of-school hours. These spaces provide care and protection, enabling parents and guardians to work with greater security. In these environments, children and youth are supervised by educators and participate in citizenship-focused activities.
SOS Children’s Villages will also continue distributing donations and financial aid to families, in collaboration with local community leaders, further expanding the impact of this humanitarian action.
