Upon the initiative of the widows a new project has been designed that will begin in January 2019 and has the objective of helping approx. 150 children in primary school age to go to school. The target group are children from the region who grow up in so called children families, meaning they grow up without mother and father or another grown-up as a guardian. As a consequence of high HIV rates these children often lose both parents at an early age. They can not attend school due to lack of provision for their basic needs. Our Kenyan colleague, social worker Fintant Onyango and the widows have conducted extensive research with regard to the children in order to determine the factors that hold them back the most. Often they suffer from a lack of food and as a consequence of malnourishment they often get sick. They can neither afford treatment nor go to school in that case. The widows plan to visit these children regularly and bring them food and financial support in case of need of treatment. Those visits will also provide an opportunity for counseling and guidance. We hope to be able to help those children go to school more often and more regularly. Until the end of this year we will collect donations in order to fund this project. We will contact you shortly with more detailed information. Thank you for your continued support!
