Starting October 12 for a limited time, GlobalGiving will be matching donations for this project! Donate and maximize your impact!
The Angus Gillis Foundation continues to support the growth of livelihoods, both financially and socially, of rural South Africans by providing a place where community members have access to skills-training, personal development training, income generation and safe place for children.
The ethical tourism projects continue to provide an outlet for the preservation of the community’s cultural heritage by teaching about traditional crafts, music and history. Cultural heritage is also being passed on to the youth as the drumming training experiences teach the younger generations about their ancestry.
Your support for this project will help the community to achieve their future plans, which include efforts to spread the benefits of the project outside of the self-help groups to include other communities. In addition, the Doll-makers will complete a Financial Life Skills course that will increase their self-sufficiency and ability to support their families. This project is also aiming to reach its target of establishing 45 self-help groups and to help the groups to market their crafts to a larger market.
