Keeping up with Healthy Food

By Sarah Bergs | Executive Director

Grannies keeping the pot going
Grannies keeping the pot going

Thank you to each and every one of you for your support. We know times are tough, but food security is more important than ever. The children from the village of Sigagule who rely on Nourish for a warm meal come from vulnerable families... many of whom are even more vulnerable now during Covid-19.

Without food, many families turn to other options, and as Nourish we stand by our belief in 'fighting poaching through fighting poverty'... the number of snares in the bush is increasing, which highlights for us how families in our area are struggling, with poverty, with hopelessness and with hunger.

The ability for children to come to our center for a warm meal, makes a difference in our community. The ability for us to provide fresh and healthy food to our creche children, is a positive for the parents of those children. We are here to support, to feed, to educate and to provide these children with the nutrition they need to be happy and healthy.

Despite lockdowns, we adapt, and when we cant feed the children at Nourish, we deliver food parcels, and when we can open... we do... From next week our preschool opens and over 50 children under the age of 5 will be in our care for 2 meals a day and a snack.

Every cent you have donated helps. It helps young children, it helps their siblings and older children. It helps their families. It helps resilience and in the long run it helps the wildlife communities.

THANK YOU for supporting our feeding program.
