Dear Donor,
Rural and hard-to-reach communities can face additional barriers during an Ebola emergency.
The World Health Organization reports that insecurity, displacement and limited access to basic services continue to hamper surveillance, contact tracing, infection prevention and timely care in affected parts of the DRC.
At organization level, the at Development Alert continues emphasizing community-level awareness so that people are not excluded from preparedness simply because they live far from major response centres.
Our messages promote early reporting, hygiene and connection with appropriate healthcare services.
Preparedness must reach the communities that are hardest to reach, not only those closest to major health facilities.
