Dear Donor,
The geographical expansion of Ebola in the DRC makes border preparedness increasingly important.
WHO reports that the outbreak now affects 63 health zones across seven provinces, including Dungu in Haut-Uélé, which borders South Sudan, and Bulu in Sud-Ubangi.
Development Alert continues promoting accurate health information among communities connected through travel, trade and family networks.
Our approach encourages responsible reporting of illness and cooperation with health authorities without stigmatizing people who cross borders.
WHO has emphasized that informal crossing routes can complicate surveillance and may facilitate cross-border transmission.
Community awareness remains an important part of protecting populations on both sides of international borders.
