Dear Donor,
Uganda continues to maintain an important public health achievement after successfully ending its 2026 Ebola outbreak.
WHO declared Uganda's outbreak over on 25 August 2026 after 42 days without a new confirmed case. Uganda recorded 20 confirmed cases during the outbreak.
However, the continuing outbreak in neighboring DRC demonstrates why preparedness and regional awareness remain important.
Development Alert continues encouraging communities to maintain good hygiene practices, recognize concerning illness, report health concerns promptly and cooperate with health authorities.
The experience also reminds us that preparedness should continue after an outbreak ends.
Our commitment is to help communities remain informed, vigilant and ready to respond while protecting the progress already achieved in Uganda.
