Strengthening Preparedness in Ituri

By Zachery Onyango | Project Leader

Dear Donor,

Ituri remains the most affected province in the current Ebola outbreak.

The latest ECDC figures report 6,182 confirmed cases and 2,848 deaths in Ituri, with cases reported from 28 of the province's 36 health zones.

Development Alert continues emphasizing sustained community preparedness in areas facing prolonged transmission.

Our community awareness efforts encourage early reporting, appropriate healthcare seeking, hygiene and cooperation with health workers.

Even when transmission begins to fluctuate or decline, communities need to remain alert because new cases can continue to emerge.

The experience in Ituri also demonstrates the importance of maintaining community trust throughout a prolonged emergency.

We remain committed to supporting informed communities that can contribute to faster detection and response.
