Dear Donor,
The current Ebola emergency is also generating important scientific evidence that could strengthen future outbreak preparedness.
Bundibugyo virus is different from the Ebola virus for which the licensed Ervebo vaccine is specifically indicated. WHO states that there is currently no licensed vaccine specifically for Bundibugyo virus disease.
In August, 70,000 Ervebo doses were allocated to the DRC: 50,000 for frontline and health workers and 20,000 for a Phase 3 clinical trial examining its potential impact against Bundibugyo virus.
WHO emphasizes that protection against Bundibugyo virus in humans has not yet been established.
Development Alert continues supporting community awareness around accurate health information and responsible engagement with public health interventions.
