Dear Donor,
Uganda's Ebola outbreak was officially declared over on 25 August 2026 after 42 days without a new confirmed case.
However, the continuing outbreak in neighboring DRC makes preparedness and regional awareness important.
Development Alert continues promoting responsible health information, hygiene and early reporting among communities.
Uganda recorded 20 confirmed cases during its 2026 outbreak, and the experience demonstrated the importance of rapid public health action and community cooperation.
Maintaining preparedness does not mean living in fear. It means ensuring that communities know what to do if a new health concern emerges.
The progress achieved in Uganda provides an important foundation for continued vigilance and community preparedness.
