Dear Donor,
North Kivu remains an important area of concern in the ongoing Ebola response.
WHO reports that North Kivu has recorded 1,480 confirmed cases, while also reporting the highest case-fatality ratio observed in the outbreak at approximately 59.7% as of 23 September.
Development Alert continues emphasizing early healthcare seeking and community awareness.
High mortality reinforces the importance of recognizing illness early and reducing delays between the appearance of symptoms and access to appropriate care.
Our community messaging encourages people to seek qualified medical assistance and cooperate with health workers.
We also encourage communities to avoid stigma and misinformation, which can create additional barriers to care.
Community awareness can help reduce dangerous delays and strengthen confidence in appropriate healthcare services.
