Dear Donor,
Children require particular attention during an Ebola emergency.
WHO reports that children under five have experienced a case-fatality ratio above 60%, compared with around 40% among adults in the current DRC outbreak.
This makes household awareness especially important for parents and caregivers.
Development Alert continues encouraging caregivers to seek professional medical assistance promptly when children develop concerning symptoms rather than delaying care.
We also promote accurate information to help families distinguish responsible health guidance from rumors and misinformation.
Protecting children requires cooperation between families, communities, healthcare workers and response teams.
The vulnerability of young children reinforces the importance of making community health information understandable and accessible to parents and caregivers.
Every informed caregiver represents another opportunity to protect a child's life.
