Dear Donor,
The Ebola situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo remains a major public health emergency requiring sustained community engagement and preparedness.
According to the latest ECDC update, the DRC had reported 7,890 confirmed Bundibugyo virus disease cases and 3,799 related deaths as of 23 September 2026. A total of 1,966 patients had recovered, while 893 remained hospitalized in isolation.
Development Alert continues promoting community preparedness through health education, early reporting, hygiene awareness and responsible communication.
These activities are particularly important because the outbreak continues to affect multiple provinces and health zones. Communities need clear information that helps them recognize risks, seek appropriate care and cooperate with trained health workers.
The figures are a reminder that the response cannot depend solely on hospitals and treatment centres. Communities themselves play an important role in recognizing unusual illness and communicating concerns quickly.
Your support helps strengthen community awareness and preparedness while the response continues.
