Dear Donor,
The continuing geographic expansion of Ebola demonstrates why remote and underserved communities must remain part of preparedness efforts.
WHO reports that the outbreak now affects 63 health zones across seven provinces, with Dungu Health Zone in Haut-Uélé becoming the newest affected area. The expansion makes community awareness increasingly important.
Development Alert continues promoting health information, early reporting, hygiene and appropriate healthcare seeking among communities that may face barriers to accessing reliable information.
Rural families can sometimes experience long distances to health facilities, limited transportation and fewer opportunities to receive timely public-health messages.
Our community-focused approach seeks to ensure that preparedness information reaches people before an emergency becomes more difficult to control.
Every community reached with reliable information becomes better equipped to recognize risks and respond appropriately.
