Dear Donor,
Ituri remains the principal focus of the DRC Ebola outbreak, but the latest WHO analysis shows an important change in transmission patterns.
WHO reports that Ituri now accounts for 76.9% of cumulative confirmed cases, while transmission has gradually declined from its late-July peak. However, the province continues to experience a high level of transmission.
Development Alert continues supporting community preparedness rather than assuming that declining incidence means the danger has disappeared.
Our awareness efforts encourage continued hygiene, early reporting, responsible healthcare seeking and cooperation with health teams.
Maintaining these behaviors during a period of declining cases is essential because communities can become less vigilant when the immediate threat appears to decrease.
The continuing burden in Ituri also highlights the importance of sustained support for affected households and communities.
Progress deserves recognition, but preparedness must continue until transmission is interrupted.
