Dear Donor,
The latest Ebola situation is a reminder that community support remains essential throughout every phase of an outbreak.
Official surveillance recorded 7,475 confirmed DRC cases and 3,605 deaths through 16 September, while more recent reporting associated with the 19 September vaccination campaign cited 7,541 cases and 3,639 deaths.
At the same time, Uganda has successfully ended its own 2026 outbreak after recording 20 confirmed cases and completing the required 42-day countdown.
These developments demonstrate both the possibility of successful containment and the continuing seriousness of transmission in the DRC.
Development Alert remains committed to supporting community-level preparedness through awareness, hygiene promotion, early reporting, surveillance cooperation, risk communication, cross-border preparedness and support for vulnerable communities.
We recognize that national governments, WHO, Africa CDC, health workers, researchers and humanitarian organizations are carrying out critical technical response activities.
Our contribution is to help strengthen the community systems that make those efforts more effective.
With your continued support, we can keep communities informed, prepared and connected to the response—helping protect lives today while building stronger resilience for future health emergencies.
