Dear Donor,
As the DRC Ebola outbreak continues, basic infection-prevention measures remain extremely important.
The latest official figures document thousands of confirmed cases and deaths, while hundreds of patients remain in isolation.
Development Alert continues promoting practical hygiene measures among communities.
These include regular hand hygiene, maintaining clean shared spaces, seeking professional medical care when serious illness occurs and following infection-prevention guidance from trained health workers.
We also encourage communities to understand that people caring for suspected or confirmed Ebola patients require appropriate protection.
Community members should never attempt to provide high-risk care without professional guidance and protective equipment.
WHO's response framework includes infection prevention and control alongside surveillance, laboratory testing, clinical care, logistics and community engagement.
Our community-level efforts help translate these public-health principles into understandable actions that families can apply.
Prevention begins in homes, schools, workplaces, transport communities and public spaces long before an emergency reaches a treatment center.
