Dear Donor,
The geographical spread of Ebola remains one of the most important challenges facing the DRC response.
The latest official WHO information describes an outbreak involving multiple provinces, while ECDC's most recent surveillance data show particularly large numbers in Ituri and North Kivu.
Ituri has remained the most heavily affected province, while North Kivu continues to experience significant transmission.
Recent reports have also highlighted cases in areas farther from the original epicenter, demonstrating the importance of surveillance beyond historically affected communities.
Development Alert therefore continues encouraging preparedness among communities connected through transportation, trade, family networks and border movement.
Our activities focus on health information, hygiene, early reporting, surveillance awareness and cooperation with health authorities.
WHO continues to emphasize cross-border preparedness because movement through official and informal routes can complicate efforts to prevent transmission.
Preparedness must follow people and communities—not simply geographical boundaries.
