Dear Donor,
Infection prevention and control remain fundamental to the Ebola response.
The DRC has recorded 7,475 confirmed cases and 3,605 deaths, while the latest ECDC update reports 905 patients hospitalized in isolation.
Development Alert continues promoting practical infection-prevention measures in communities.
Our activities emphasize hand hygiene, safe interaction with health services, maintaining clean shared spaces and following guidance from trained professionals.
We also support community awareness around healthcare-worker protection.
Communities should understand that suspected Ebola cases require professional assessment and that untrained people should not attempt to provide direct care without appropriate protective measures.
WHO's response includes infection prevention and control, clinical care, surveillance, laboratory testing and community engagement.
Our community-focused contribution is to help people understand why these measures matter.
Prevention begins long before a person enters a treatment center.
