Dear Donor,
The continuing Ebola outbreak in the DRC remains an important concern for communities connected to Uganda.
WHO assesses the risk to countries sharing land borders with the DRC as high, while the risk to the wider African region and globally remains lower.
The DRC has reported 7,475 confirmed cases and 3,605 deaths, and transmission remains active across multiple provinces.
Development Alert continues strengthening preparedness among communities connected through trade, family movement and transport.
Our activities include health education, early reporting, hygiene promotion, community surveillance and communication with local health structures.
We also encourage communities to avoid stigmatizing people who travel from affected areas.
Cross-border preparedness should be based on vigilance and cooperation—not fear.
WHO continues recommending strengthened cross-border coordination, surveillance and preparedness because informal crossing routes can facilitate virus movement.
Your support helps communities remain alert while protecting livelihoods, relationships and human dignity.
