Dear supporter,
Rapid reporting of suspected illness remains one of the most effective ways to interrupt Ebola transmission. Along the Uganda–Democratic Republic of Congo border, community disease alert networks are becoming stronger thanks to your generous support. These locally led systems are helping ensure that health concerns are identified early and communicated quickly to district response teams.
Village Health Teams, community volunteers, teachers, religious leaders, market representatives, and local council officials continue working together to monitor community health and encourage immediate reporting whenever Ebola symptoms are suspected. Simple communication pathways have been strengthened so that alerts can move efficiently from villages to health authorities without unnecessary delays.
Community education has increased understanding that reporting illness early protects families, neighbors, and the wider community. Residents are becoming more confident in contacting health workers and cooperating with surveillance teams, helping reduce fear while improving public trust.
Border communities that experience frequent movement between Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo are particularly benefiting from these strengthened alert systems. Faster communication allows health authorities to investigate concerns promptly, support affected families, and implement appropriate public health measures whenever necessary.
Your partnership is helping build sustainable community-based surveillance systems that will continue protecting lives long after the current outbreak has ended. Every alert reported, every volunteer engaged, and every community strengthened brings Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo one step closer to ending Ebola while creating a stronger foundation for future public health preparedness.
