Dear Donor,
Thank you so much for your conitiuned support. Communities living along the Uganda–Democratic Republic of Congo border remain at the forefront of the Ebola response. With thousands of people crossing the border every week for trade, education, farming, and family visits, these communities play a critical role in preventing further transmission. Thanks to your generous support, Development Alert continues strengthening local preparedness by working directly with community leaders, Village Health Teams, schools, market associations, and transport operators.
Our outreach teams are conducting regular household visits, community dialogue meetings, and public awareness sessions to ensure residents understand how Ebola spreads and how it can be prevented. Local volunteers continue encouraging families to report suspected symptoms early, practice regular handwashing, and cooperate with health authorities whenever investigations are required.
Public handwashing stations installed at markets, border trading centers, schools, and boda boda stages continue serving thousands of community members each week. Volunteers also monitor these facilities to ensure they remain functional and well supplied.
The growing participation of community members has strengthened surveillance while reducing misinformation that often accompanies disease outbreaks. Families are becoming active partners in protecting public health rather than passive recipients of information.
Your continued support is helping border communities become stronger, more informed, and better prepared. Together, we are transforming vulnerable communities into the first line of defense against Ebola while strengthening regional health security for both Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
