Ebola Prevention Through Faith-Based Partnerships

Strengthening Ebola Prevention Through Faith-Based Partnerships

Dear Donor,

Faith institutions continue to serve as trusted sources of guidance and support throughout Uganda's Ebola response. As the country works to contain 20 confirmed cases, your generous support is helping strengthen partnerships with churches, mosques, and other faith-based organizations to promote lifesaving health information and encourage community participation in prevention efforts.

Religious leaders are incorporating Ebola prevention messages into sermons, community meetings, youth activities, and family counseling sessions. They continue emphasizing practical measures such as handwashing, early reporting of symptoms, supporting affected families with compassion, and following guidance from health authorities. These messages are reaching thousands of worshippers each week, extending awareness well beyond traditional health campaigns.

Faith communities are also providing venues for community education sessions, supporting vulnerable households, and encouraging volunteers to participate in awareness activities. Their influence has helped reduce fear and misinformation while reinforcing values of solidarity, care, and collective responsibility.

The partnership between faith leaders and district health teams is strengthening community trust and ensuring prevention messages are delivered in culturally appropriate ways. This collaboration has become an important pillar of the broader Ebola response across high-risk districts and border communities.

Your support continues to strengthen these valuable partnerships, enabling trusted community voices to promote healthier behaviors and encourage early action. Together, we are ensuring that places of worship remain centers of hope, accurate information, and community resilience throughout the Ebola response.
