Ebola Community-Based Psychosocial Support

Expanding Community-Based Psychosocial Support During the Ebola Response

Dear Donor,

As Uganda continues responding to the Ebola outbreak with 20 confirmed cases, communities are facing not only physical health risks but also emotional and psychological challenges. Fear, uncertainty, and the loss of loved ones can leave lasting effects on families and communities.

Thanks to your generous support, psychosocial support activities are being integrated into community Ebola response efforts to promote healing, resilience, and hope.

Community volunteers, local leaders, and trained counselors continue engaging families affected by the outbreak through household visits, support meetings, and community dialogues. These interactions provide opportunities for individuals to share their experiences, receive emotional encouragement, and access accurate information about Ebola recovery and prevention.

Special attention is being given to children, caregivers, survivors, and families who have experienced quarantine or bereavement. Community leaders are encouraging compassion while addressing stigma that can isolate affected households.

Faith leaders and respected elders are also contributing by promoting messages of solidarity, hope, and mutual support.

Communities are responding positively as trust grows and people become more willing to seek help when needed. Strong emotional support is improving cooperation with health interventions while strengthening social cohesion during a challenging period.

Your continued partnership is helping communities recover not only physically but emotionally. By supporting psychosocial well-being alongside medical interventions, you are contributing to healthier, more resilient communities that are better equipped to overcome the current Ebola outbreak and face future public health emergencies together.
