Dear Friend,
Thank you so much for Building a Lasting Legacy of Preparedness Through Community Partnerships in this fight aginst Ebola.
While Uganda continues working to contain the current Ebola outbreak, preparations for future public health emergencies are already taking shape. The investments being made today are not only helping address the current situation but are also strengthening local systems that will protect communities for years to come. This progress has been made possible through your continued partnership and commitment to saving lives.
Across affected districts, communities are integrating disease prevention into everyday life. Schools continue teaching proper hygiene practices, Village Health Teams remain active in disease surveillance, local leaders regularly engage residents on public health issues, and markets, transport hubs, and places of worship are reinforcing messages about handwashing and disease prevention.
Community emergency response structures established during the outbreak are becoming permanent resources that can be activated whenever future health threats arise. These local partnerships are improving communication between communities and health authorities while strengthening the capacity to detect and respond to infectious diseases quickly.
Perhaps most importantly, communities are developing a culture of preparedness rather than simply reacting during emergencies. Families understand the importance of reporting illness early, supporting neighbors during outbreaks, and working together to protect public health.
Your generosity is helping create this lasting legacy. Beyond responding to today's Ebola outbreak, you are building stronger health systems, empowering local communities, and creating sustainable resilience that will continue protecting thousands of people across Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo for generations to come.
