Reaching Remote Communities with Life-Saving Ebola

By Zachery Onyango | Project Leader

Dear Friend,

Your support has helped as in reaching remote communities with Life-Saving Ebola Prevention Information.

Ugandan grassroots communities continues to respond to an Ebola outbreak with 20 confirmed cases with reaching isolated and underserved communities remaining one of the greatest priorities.

Many villages located near the Uganda–DRC border are separated by difficult terrain, making access to timely health information challenging. Thanks to the continued generosity of our donors, outreach teams are extending Ebola awareness activities to these remote communities, ensuring that no family is left behind.

Community health volunteers are traveling from village to village, conducting household visits, organizing community meetings, and working with local leaders to share accurate information about Ebola symptoms, prevention measures, and the importance of early medical care. Health education materials are being adapted into local languages, making them easier for families to understand and discuss.

The response from community members has been encouraging. Families are asking more questions, seeking clarification on myths surrounding Ebola, and demonstrating greater willingness to cooperate with surveillance and contact tracing teams. Local leaders are taking ownership of prevention activities by organizing village clean-up campaigns, promoting handwashing, and encouraging immediate reporting of suspected illnesses.

These outreach efforts are strengthening trust between communities and health workers while ensuring that accurate information reaches people before misinformation can spread.

Your continued support is making it possible to bring lifesaving education to communities that might otherwise be overlooked. Together, we are ensuring that geography does not become a barrier to protection, and that every family has the knowledge needed to help stop Ebola.
