Standing With Communities

Standing With Communities Until the Ebola Outbreak Ends

Dear Friend,

Although Uganda continues to make progress in responding to the Ebola outbreak, the confirmation of 20 cases reminds us that sustained action remains essential. Every new case reinforces the importance of maintaining community awareness, strengthening surveillance systems, supporting healthcare workers, and ensuring that vulnerable families receive the assistance they need. Thanks to your continued partnership, these lifesaving interventions remain active where they are needed most.

Community volunteers continue conducting household visits, educating families on Ebola prevention, and encouraging early reporting of symptoms. Health workers remain vigilant in screening patients, strengthening infection prevention practices, and coordinating closely with district surveillance teams. Border communities continue participating in awareness campaigns that encourage safe travel practices while reducing misinformation that can undermine response efforts.

Support for quarantined households, hygiene promotion in schools and public spaces, community dialogue sessions, and collaboration with local leaders are helping build trust while improving cooperation with public health measures. These interventions are not only helping contain the current outbreak but are also strengthening the health systems and community structures that will respond to future emergencies.

While challenges remain, there is growing hope. Communities are increasingly embracing prevention measures, local partnerships are becoming stronger, and response teams continue demonstrating remarkable dedication under difficult circumstances.

Your generosity is making all of this possible. Every contribution helps protect families, strengthens frontline response efforts, and brings Uganda one step closer to ending the outbreak. Together, we are demonstrating that compassion, preparedness, and community action can save lives and build a safer future for generations to come.
