Empowering Community Volunteers to Reach Every Household
Dear Donor,
Community volunteers remain one of the greatest strengths in Uganda's Ebola response. As confirmed cases increase to 20, their dedication is ensuring that lifesaving information and practical support continue reaching even the most remote households. Thanks to your continued support, these volunteers remain active partners in protecting their communities.
Village Health Teams and community volunteers continue conducting household visits to share accurate Ebola prevention information, answer questions, identify vulnerable families, and encourage early reporting of symptoms. Their close relationship with local residents allows them to identify concerns quickly while promoting trust in public health interventions.
Volunteers are also supporting community surveillance by notifying health authorities about suspected illnesses and encouraging cooperation with contact tracing activities. In addition, they help identify households requiring additional assistance, including hygiene education and support for families affected by quarantine measures.
Their presence within communities has helped reduce fear and misinformation while strengthening confidence in the response. Families increasingly understand that early reporting and preventive behaviors are essential to protecting loved ones and neighbors.
Your support enables these dedicated volunteers to continue serving as trusted messengers and first responders within their communities. Their commitment demonstrates that successful outbreak control depends not only on healthcare facilities but also on informed, engaged citizens working together to protect public health.
