Cross-Border Preparedness to Prevent Future Ebola

By Zachery Onyango | Project Leader

Strengthening Cross-Border Preparedness to Prevent Future Ebola Transmission

Dear Donor,

Your continued support is preparing communities for future health emergencies remains equally important. With movement continuing between Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, sustained preparedness helps reduce the risk of future outbreaks and strengthens long-term public health resilience.

Thanks to your generous support, preparedness activities continue across border districts through community education, simulation exercises, volunteer training, and strengthened collaboration between local authorities and health teams. Village Health Teams, border health personnel, and community leaders are working together to maintain vigilance even in communities where no cases have been detected.

Public awareness campaigns continue emphasizing the importance of early reporting, regular handwashing, avoiding unnecessary contact with suspected cases, and seeking medical care promptly whenever symptoms develop. Schools, markets, transport hubs, and community organizations remain active partners in reinforcing these prevention messages.

The investments made today are building stronger local systems that will continue serving communities long after the current outbreak has ended. Prepared communities respond faster, cooperate more effectively with health authorities, and recover more quickly from future public health threats.

Your continued partnership is helping transform emergency response into lasting preparedness. Together, we are not only responding to today's Ebola outbreak but also building healthier, more resilient border communities capable of preventing and managing future disease outbreaks with confidence and coordination.
