As Uganda responds to an increase in Ebola cases to 20, protecting frontline health workers has become more critical than ever. These individuals are at the heart of the response, providing care, conducting surveillance, and supporting affected communities. Thanks to your continued support, efforts are being strengthened to ensure their safety and well-being.
Health workers are receiving ongoing training on infection prevention practices, including safe patient handling, hygiene protocols, and early identification of symptoms. Facilities are reinforcing safety measures to reduce the risk of exposure, especially in high-contact environments such as clinics and isolation units.
As a result, health workers are better prepared and more confident in their roles. This not only improves patient care but also reduces the likelihood of healthcare-associated transmission, which is a key risk during Ebola outbreaks.
In addition to physical safety, attention is being given to emotional and psychological support, recognizing the stress and pressure faced by those on the front lines.
Your support is helping ensure that those who care for others are also protected. By strengthening health worker safety, you are reinforcing one of the most critical pillars of the Ebola response—ensuring that lifesaving services continue without interruption.
