Ebola Cases Rise to 20 in Uganda

By Zachery Onyango | Project Leader

As Uganda's Ebola outbreak continues to evolve, with reported cases increasing to 20, community surveillance activities are being intensified across high-risk districts and border communities. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, frontline teams are expanding efforts to identify suspected cases early and strengthen local reporting systems before transmission can spread further.

Community health volunteers, village leaders, and local surveillance focal persons are conducting routine awareness visits, monitoring health concerns, and encouraging families to report symptoms immediately. Special attention is being given to border communities that experience frequent movement between Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

These efforts are helping communities remain alert while reducing delays in case detection. Increased awareness means more individuals understand the importance of seeking medical care quickly and avoiding contact with potentially infected persons. Local leaders are also helping counter misinformation and encouraging cooperation with public health measures.

The continued rise in cases serves as a reminder that vigilance remains critical. However, the growing strength of community surveillance systems is helping authorities respond more rapidly and effectively.

Your support is helping protect vulnerable populations by strengthening the first line of defense against Ebola. Through sustained surveillance, awareness, and community engagement, we are working together to stop transmission chains, save lives, and prevent the outbreak from expanding further.
