I hope everyone enjoyed their Easter Break! We have some updates to share from Abundance about a training held at our e-learning center.
Abundance dispatched a trainer to Mbando village on March 23 and 24 to instruct ten people—six of whom were female and four of whom were male—on how to use the e-learning center's gadgets. This included showing them how to access the Rachel platform, a server that contains 500GB of educational materials, and how to do searches on the platform. It was intended to be a "training of trainers" and was well received and appreciated by the village.
The e-learning center has introduced the trainees to a variety of artisanal skills, and eight of them have shown a desire to begin organic chicken farming. However, in order to do so, they will require chicks. While four trainees are interested in carpentry, three trainees have been enthralled with welding after watching videos on the subject at the learning center and would love to receive training in it.
Abundance has explored in Mbando village and its surrounds about who can provide youth with apprenticeship options and training. There is a local welder who has been selected to complete the training, this will cost MK 450,000 (USD256) per person for a period of six months. The Mbando Village carpenter accepts apprentices, but he will charge MK150,000 (USD 85) per person for the duration of training.

We currently use our office in Mbando Village as an e-learning center as well. The trainer asked that there be stationary computer stations in the room; moving the laptops could cause damage to them. The laptops that Abundance purchased in 2019 require upkeep and require new chargers.
Notwithstanding the difficulties we encounter, we are determined to support Mbando's young through e-learning, and with your assistance, we can accomplish much more.
