Abundance is a non-profit organization that has worked at Mbando village in rural Malawi since 2016. Working closely with the communities, over 5 years, we have set up a library, solar powered e-learning center, trained youth on vocational skills, provided a communal bicycle ambulance, blankets to elderly, trained girls on sanitary napkins making, planted trees, piloted a waste to energy bioenergy cooker and are setting up a rice mill. Support us to make Mbando a "Smart Village"!
Mbando village is situated on the shores of Lake Chilwa in rural Malawi. The communities survive through subsistence farming and fishing. Poverty levels are high and the village was affected by Cylone Idai and Cyclone Eloise in the recent past affecting farms and livelihoods. Abundance is a non-profit organization working towards betterment of human well being and nurturing nature. A rice mill and several other activities are planned for the village, however, we need resources to support these.
This project will support all of Abundance's activities in the village including providing training for youth, trainings at e-Leraning center, books for library, supporting income generation activities such as setting up the rice mill (the building which was damaged by cyclone) and support Abundance's volunteer staff to continue their good work. The project is urgently seeking help to address rehabilitation work due to impacts of Cyclone Freddy.
Long term impact would be enhanced incomes and reduced poverty of Mbando villagers.
