Project Update: Support Abandoned Children to Find Local Families

Since our last report, the project "Support Abandoned Children to Find Local Families" has continued to make significant strides. This update outlines the recent accomplishments, ongoing efforts, challenges, and future plans to ensure the well-being and placement of the children under our care.

Progress Highlights:

  1. Adoption Milestones:
    • Successful Adoptions: We are delighted to announce that three more children have been successfully adopted through our partnership with Buckner Adoption Agency. These adoptions mark a significant step towards providing stable and loving homes for the children.
    • New Arrivals: We have welcomed five new babies from the Children Department. Our team is diligently working to place these babies into adoptive families or find their relatives to ensure they receive the care and love they deserve.
  2. Reintegration Success:
    • We have facilitated the reintegration of additional children with their relatives, bringing the total number of reintegrated children to four. These reunifications underscore our commitment to prioritizing family reunification whenever possible.
  3. Enhanced Donor Engagement:
    • Monthly Newsletters: We have engaged in in-depth discussions with our donors through our monthly newsletters. These communications have highlighted both our successes and challenges, fostering a deeper understanding and connection with our supporters.
    • Increased Support: The response from our donors has been overwhelmingly positive, with many stepping forward to support us with daily essentials needed for the children. This support has been invaluable in ensuring the continuous care and well-being of the children.
  4. Community and Sponsor Relationships:
    • Increased Visitations: The positive relationships we have cultivated with our sponsors and donors have led to more frequent visitations to the home. These visits, often facilitated through referrals, have strengthened our community network and provided additional support and resources for the children.

Challenges and Solutions:

  • Local Adoption Limitations: While the Children Welfare Society's decision to stop working with private homes continues to pose challenges, our ongoing partnership with Buckner Adoption Agency has provided crucial alternative adoption avenues.
  • Resource Allocation: Effective resource management remains a priority. We have successfully utilized donor support and careful planning to meet the diverse needs of the children.
  • Funding and Necessities: With more children, especially infants, coming into our care, we are currently facing rising challenges related to funding and necessities. These include:
    • Medical Needs: Hospital bills and medication costs are significant, especially for children arriving with infections or those born prematurely requiring intensive care and regular checkups.
    • Basic Supplies: There is a substantial need for baby milk formula and diapers, which are essential for the health and well-being of the infants under our care.

Next Steps:

  • Continue Collaborations: We will maintain our close collaboration with Buckner Adoption Agency to facilitate additional adoptions and ensure the best outcomes for the children.
  • Implement Exit Plans: We remain committed to promptly implementing exit plans to transition all children into suitable living arrangements.
  • Expand Partnerships and Funding avenues: We will explore opportunities for collaboration with other organizations and stakeholders to further support our mission of finding loving homes for abandoned children.

Conclusion:

The project "Support Abandoned Children to Find Local Families" continues to achieve significant progress, thanks to the dedication of our team, partners, donors, and sponsors. Despite challenges, our commitment to the well-being and future prospects of the children remains unwavering. With ongoing efforts and strong partnerships, we are confident in our ability to provide every child with the opportunity to thrive in a nurturing and supportive family environment.
