The proposed project aims to enhance child and family mental health support through the establishment of a dedicated Counselling and Healing Centre at Diani Children's Village. The facility will provide a safe, private, and nurturing environment for counselling, trauma recovery, and wellness activities. By making professional psychological support more accessible, the Centre will help strengthen family systems, promote emotional resilience, and contribute to a healthier Kwale Community.
Many families and individuals in Diani and across Kwale County face emotional trauma resulting from poverty, abuse, neglect, and family breakdown, yet access to professional mental health support remains extremely limited. Parents, youth, and caregivers often struggle silently with stress, grief, and emotional distress, which affects the well-being and stability of entire households. Through its holistic approach, the Centre will empower families to heal and strengthen relationships
By providing accessible, professional, and holistic mental health services to families, youth, and individuals across Diani and the wider Kwale County. Through individual and group counselling, trauma recovery programs, play and art therapy, and community wellness workshops, the Centre will offer a safe and supportive environment for emotional expression, healing, and personal growth. Qualified counsellors will work closely with community members to strengthen coping skills rebuild self-esteem.
