Project Report | Feb 27, 2024
Support Abandoned Children to Find Local Families

By Anthony Mutevu | Project Leader

Date: February 27, 2024

Overview: The project "Support Abandoned Children to Find Local Families" has made significant strides since its inception. Despite facing challenges, we have made substantial progress towards our goal of providing stable and loving homes for abandoned children. This report outlines the accomplishments achieved thus far and the current status of the project.

Progress Highlights:

  1. Partnership with Buckner Adoption Agency: One of the key milestones of the project was establishing a partnership with Buckner Adoption Agency in Kenya. This partnership has opened new avenues for adoption opportunities for the children under our care. As a result, we are pleased to announce that two children are already in the final stages of the adoption process through Buckner Adoption Agency.
  2. Reintegration Success: We have successfully facilitated the reintegration of two children with their relatives. This achievement signifies a crucial aspect of our mission to reunite children with their families whenever possible. These successful reintegration efforts have brought joy and stability to the lives of the children and their relatives.
  3. Proper Exit Plans: All remaining children under our care have been provided with comprehensive exit plans. These plans ensure a smooth transition for the children into suitable living arrangements, whether through adoption, reunification with family members, or other appropriate care options. We are committed to executing these exit plans promptly to ensure the well-being and future prospects of each child.

Challenges and Solutions:

  • Local Adoption Limitations: The Children Welfare society's decision to stop working with private homes posed a challenge to our local adoption efforts. However, our partnership with Buckner Adoption Agency has mitigated this challenge by providing alternative avenues for adoption.
  • Resource Allocation: Managing resources effectively has been crucial to the success of the project. Through careful planning and prioritization, we have ensured that resources are utilized efficiently to meet the diverse needs of the children under our care.

Next Steps:

  • Continue working closely with Buckner Adoption Agency to facilitate additional adoptions and ensure the best possible outcomes for the children.
  • Implement remaining exit plans promptly to transition all children into suitable living arrangements.
  • Explore opportunities for collaboration with other organizations and stakeholders to further support abandoned children in finding loving homes.

Conclusion:

The project "Support Abandoned Children to Find Local Families" has made significant progress, thanks to the dedication and collaborative efforts of all involved stakeholders. While challenges have been encountered along the way, our commitment to the well-being and future prospects of the children remains unwavering. With continued diligence and partnership, we are confident in achieving our mission of providing every child with the opportunity to thrive in a nurturing and supportive family environment.
