Since our previous update, Forsports Foundation has continued to advance the development of the Sunyani Youth Empowerment Centre while maintaining our ongoing youth programmes across the communities we serve. The Centre has now progressed into a substantially more defined project, with the concept, facility requirements, phased development approach and preliminary costs established. The project is designed as a long-term community hub bringing together sport, education, digital skills, health and wellbeing, youth enterprise and community development in one accessible facility.
During this period, we have also continued delivering programmes that demonstrate the need for the Centre. Forsports Foundation reached more than 2,100 beneficiaries in 2025 and has reached more than 5,000 beneficiaries cumulatively since 2014. Our flagship Girls4Goals programme continues to use football as a platform for girls and boys, with a strong focus on girls' empowerment, while our wider work addresses life skills, youth empowerment, health and wellbeing, safe spaces and environmental awareness.
An important area of progress has been strengthening the Centre's readiness for implementation and long-term sustainability. The project is structured around four independently operational phases, allowing development to proceed progressively rather than requiring the entire facility to be completed at once. We have continued working with institutional and community partners and have strengthened the project's technical, governance and implementation documentation. The Centre is intended to provide a permanent base from which Forsports Foundation can expand its existing programmes and reach more than 5,000 beneficiaries annually when the full programme and facility scale is achieved.
The project has not yet received donations through GlobalGiving during this reporting period, with the current GlobalGiving fundraising total remaining at USD 0. Nevertheless, the project has continued to progress through organisational commitment, programme delivery, project development and partnership engagement. Our immediate focus remains on securing the partnerships and resources required to move from project preparation into implementation and ultimately establish a permanent youth empowerment facility for Sunyani and surrounding communities.
