The Community Reproductive Health Strengthening Project aims to reduce teenage pregnancy and improve reproductive health among adolescents and women in Jinja City. Through community outreach, youth-friendly services, health education, and partnerships with local stakeholders, Amazing Life Foundation will increase access to reproductive health information and services, empower young people with life skills, and promote positive health behaviors aligned with local government priorities.
High teenage pregnancy rates in Jinja City are driven by limited access to youth-friendly reproductive health services, inadequate sexual health education, poverty, gender inequality, and cultural stigma. Many adolescents lack accurate information and support, leading to early pregnancy, school dropout, and poor health outcomes. The project will benefit adolescents (girls and boys), young women, parents/caregivers, schools, and community leaders through improved education, empowerment.
The project will reduce teenage pregnancy by providing comprehensive reproductive health education, training peer educators, conducting school and community outreach, and strengthening access to youth-friendly health services. Through partnerships with local government, health facilities, parents, and community leaders, adolescents will gain knowledge, life skills, and access to counseling and services, promoting positive behavior change and improving reproductive health outcomes in Jinja City.
The project will contribute to sustained reductions in teenage pregnancy, improved reproductive health outcomes, and increased school retention among adolescents in Jinja City. Long-term impacts include empowered youth making informed health decisions, strengthened community support systems, improved access to youth-friendly services, enhanced gender equality, and healthier families, supporting local development goals and breaking cycles of poverty and vulnerability.
