FAME’s STEMulate® Change Outreach Initiative has been operating throughout the 2017-2018 school year. To date, the program has served a wide variety of students (grades K-6) from different schools and locations, including: Silverlake Elementary School, Thomas Edison Charter School, Marbrook Elementary School, Heritage Elementary School, Mote Elementary School, and Baltz Elementary School.
Recently, on 2/26/2018, FAME continued our mission to, “prepare and motivate students in grades K-12, with a specific focus on underrepresented minorities and girls, to enter college and complete a degree and/or seek a career in STEM or other STEM related pathways” by hosting a STEM Literacy Book Launch. The Book Launch took place at Marbrook Elementary in Wilmington, Delaware. Through this Book Launch, FAME was able to donate 1,000+ STEM Literacy books to the Red Clay Consolidated School District. In attendance were participating FAME students, Don Baker (FAME’s CEO), Melissa Phillips (Principal at Marbrook), two reps from the Red Clay Consolidated School District, and Amber Young from Delmarva Power.
As FAME’s STEMulate® Change Outreach Initiative continues to operate through Spring and into Summer, we look forward to serving even more students at new locations. For the Summer of 2018, FAME will continue our STEMulate® Change six week summer extension at John Dickinson High School in Wilmington, Delaware. Programming will take place from Monday, June 18th in through Thursday, July 26th. Sessions will take place Monday to Thursday from 8am to 3pm. FAME is currently accepting applications for summer enrollment in through Friday, April 20th. Application forms can be found online: www.famedelaware.org.
