The project aims to inspire 50 rural children to learn STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) by participating in a 3-day, 2-night camp. It emphasizes learning through nature and the environment outside the classroom, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills through hands-on activities that can be applied in real life. The Saptai STEM Camp by PDA, received the Outstanding Award at 14th Thailand Tourism Award 2023.
Access to quality education remains a significant challenge, especially in rural areas where resources and opportunities for STEM learning are limited. Children in these areas often lack access to modern tools, skilled teachers, and critical training programs needed for success in the digital age. Despite government efforts to promote STEM education, inadequate infrastructure and support hinder rural children's potential, leaving them at a clear disadvantage compared to their urban peers.
Providing rural children with access to STEM education through engaging, hands-on activities is vital for fostering foundational learning and reducing educational disparities. These activities combine theoretical knowledge with practical application, connecting lessons to nature and the local environment. By cultivating skills in scientific thinking, experimentation, and problem-solving, the program inspires children and equips them for future education and careers in science and technology.
The STEM camp for rural children equips them with essential skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, which are vital in the digital era. It fosters analytical thinking, problem-solving, and practical knowledge to support community development while inspiring children to pursue meaningful careers in STEM fields. By emphasising creativity, innovation, and real-world application, the camp improves quality of leaning and prepare children for sustainable change in the future.
