During November we averaged 15 families per service day, which is a record number for our food pantry. Although this left our shelves quite bare, we were able to restock with the help of local food drives by the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, patrons of Godfathers Pizza restaurants and students at Sunset High School. However, we know from experience we will be facing bare shelves again within the next couple of months.
We were also able to help 37 local families with Christmas food boxes and gift cards for both a meat purchase and children's gifts.
Our backpack program continues to grow as we now serve 33 kids at McKinley Elementary and 12 kids at Springville Elementary Schools with weekend food.
In November we assisted four families with rental assistance and one family with utility assistance. In December we assisted three families with utility and one with rental assistance. Also in December we assisted one family with a security deposit, which allowed them to spend Christmas in their own home. One homeless man whose mother had recently died was assisted with two nights lodging at a local motel.
