During August we averaged 13 and September over 14 families served per service day at our food pantry. In September this equated to 173 families (413 adults and 302 children) who received 12,700 pounds of food. This was a record month for number of families served. The results of this record can be seen in the large empty spaces on our shelves. We have been scrambling to purchase some of the staples missing from our shelves such as rice and beans.
With the beginning of the school year we again are providing weekend food assistance to school children and their families in need from McKinley (30 kids) and Springville (10 kids) elementary schools through our backpack program. We also continue to assist local families with emergency rent or utility assistance. In September we assisted two families with rent and two families with utility assistance.
Your help in our continuing mission to help those in need in our community is very much appreciated!
