Following eight months of pregnancy, Rabiatu finally gets to see a doctor for the first time. While living with her nineteen year old abusive boyfriend and his mother in the fishing village of Jamestown, Rabiatu had unfortunately experienced multiple physical attacks.
She is now expecting her second child with her boyfriend who is also seeing a different girl with two children. This is the harsh reality some young mothers and teenage girls must deal with in what we refer to as our modern urban community.
With the introduction of our vocational program at the center (Sew_Your_Future), young-mothers like Rabiatu are empowered to be self-independent and build resiliency skills while learning about parenting and their sexual health rights while enrolling their babies in a pre-kindergarten.
Next weekend, Rabiatu will be traveling to her grandmother’s village for the labor process thanks to our hardworking staff that acquired a health insurance card for her.
This is only one of the many internventions we make thnaks to what was only intented to be a sports and education center.
As we continue to grow in the communities we operate and establish our presence; so are our activities streamlined to reach the unreachable and giving equal opportunity to all especially women and children.
Thank for your support so far.
