Jacobabad, one of the hottest cities in Pakistan, faces severe heatwaves each year, posing serious health risks-especially to vulnerable groups such as laborers, the elderly, and children. In response, this project proposes the establishment of a Heatwave Relief Water Camp at a key public location in Jacobabad during peak summer months. Jacobabad faces extreme heatwaves, with temperatures exceeding 50C, putting vulnerable populations at high risk of dehydration and heatstroke. Public access to cold, safe drinking water is limited. To address this, CDF plans to establish a one-month Cold Water Distribution Camp in a central city location, providing life-saving hydration, reducing heat-related health risks, and supporting community resilience during peak summer conditions.
The project will provide free, cold drinking water at a central location in Jacobabad during peak heat hours, helping prevent dehydration and heatstroke. It offers immediate relief to vulnerable populations, reduces heat-related health risks, and supports public awareness and community resilience during extreme heatwave conditions.
The project can lead to long-term impact by promoting community awareness on heat safety, encouraging public health preparedness, and inspiring similar low-cost, life-saving interventions. It also strengthens local capacity to respond to climate-related emergencies and fosters a culture of care and resilience during extreme weather events.
