Digital inequality is a huge factor when it comes to the futures of disadvantaged children in institutionalized homes. The world is quickly moving towards a more and more technological future. Without the proper tools and knowledge, a transition into the real world can seem like a hopeless task. But having knowledge that supports and can contribute to this technology anticipation, gives children a chance at a fulfilling life.
The Boxing Day Virtual Marathon looks to help bring more computers to these kids. The charity run will commence on December 26,2020 with participants joining globally. The proceeds will go to YouMeWe which is a Japan NPO dedicated to help children growing up in institutional homes.
The population in Japan is shrinking and all the more reason for the kids to be connected at a younger age. Not only to seek the education and skills for the 21st Century workplace but meet the demands of recruiting at companies. Companies who will be seeking candidates who are native speakers and who grew up in a structured environment.
