Our project delivers both immediate relief and long-term recovery support to orphanages in Kumamoto and other earthquake-affected areas. In the immediate term, our priority is restoring access to clean water and electricity. Long-term, we will support these communities through the rebuilding process to help them fully recover.
On July 28, 2026, a 7.1-magnitude earthquake struck Kumamoto, leaving at least 35 dead and 129 injured. About 48,000 households lost power, and 84,000 lost water. Extreme summer heat now raises the risk of heatstroke and dehydration for evacuees and children. Over 8,800 people are sheltering in 400+ centers. Orphanages are among the hardest hit, with children lacking the water and electricity needed for safe care.
We are collecting donations to provide clean water and portable power directly to affected homes and orphanages. Because our team maintains direct contact with these orphanages, we assess each household's specific needs firsthand and deliver water and solar power supplies directly, ensuring aid reaches those who need it most without delay.
Beyond immediate relief, this project builds lasting resilience for Kumamoto's orphanages. Reliable water and solar power reduce dependence on the fragile grid, protecting children from future disruptions. Our ongoing, direct relationships with these communities let us respond faster to future disasters and identify long-term needs, such as rebuilding housing and infrastructure, strengthening these children's safety, stability, and quality of life for years to come
