Kenya Keys helps students unlock their potential through education that leads to marketable skills and gainful employment. Sponsors pay tuition for individual students, or contribute to the programs that provide basic, but vital support, so students can succeed at school. Such essential programs address food insecurity, feminine hygiene, and transportation, as well as emotional health. We provide service in the rural, sub-Saharan area of Southeast Kenya focused on subsistence farming families.
Many bright and eager students in the rural villages of Kenya qualify to attend high school and college but do not attend because their families cannot pay the school fees. Intelligent and hard-working students languish in their villages, victims of the cycle of poverty that persists in rural Kenya.
Since 2005, Kenya Keys has sponsored more than a thousand students anxious to improve their lives through education. Our Board of Directors in Kenya reviews recommendations from local principals and grants sponsorships to the students with the greatest need and potential. With financial support, these students are ready to conquer every challenge. Your financial assistance opens doors for these students to change the future - for them, their families, and their villages.
Over 94% of our sponsored students go on to college or vocational training. They secure higher income jobs, improve the local economy, and raise educational expectations in their families and villages. Education arms students in this region against terrorist groups who prey on the desperate, poor, and uneducated. A girl who attends school increases her future wages 15-25% for every year she stays in high school. Education is the most powerful tool we have to change lives and fight poverty.
